Showcasing the New Range

Showcasing the New Range

Abi on 27th Oct 2023

September 2023 saw the launch of our newest range here at Albert and Maurice. The Autum/Winter 2023 range is our third collection of men’s country wear and we are excited to introduce you to the new line up of premium shirts and jumpers, plus take you through a few developments that we’ve been working on behind the scenes.

Keeping to our values

Albert and Maurice was born out of the desire to create high quality country clothing that is versatile, durable and comfortable to wear; clothing that we, and our customers, would reach for time and time again, no matter what the day ahead held. Since we launched our first collection in 2021, we have continued to remain true to this aim. This year, we’ve built on the experience and knowledge gained from the past collections and incorporated feedback from our customers to launch what we believe is our best range yet.

New developments

Keeping in check

Checked shirts are undoubtedly a staple of country wear and they’re a core element to each of our ranges. In every collection we’ve introduced new check patterns in new colourways and this season is no exception. Using feedback from our customers and knowledge gained in working with our manufacturers, we’ve worked hard to improve our check designs.

One example of this is how we’ve developed our use of colour. Following customer feedback about our Broadbent Shirt from the Autumn/Winter 2022 range, we’ve taken the Gold Crest yellow colour from this check design and used handloom samples from our factory to consider how the intensity of the colour changed when using it in either the warp or the weft of the weave. This season we’ve used the Gold Crest colour again, but by changing how the colour has been woven into the fabric, we’ve created a softer tone for a more subtle, stylish touch. Have a look at the Thruxton Shirt from the AW23 collection for a check pattern that uses this gorgeous yellow hue.

Overall, to produce this season’s collection of shirts we’ve collaborated with our manufacturers to evaluate approximately twenty handloom samples, ensuring that we have the perfect range of check designs. We think you’ll agree that there is a check shirt in our new collection to suit everyone!

Choice materials

One of our main developments this season has been to broaden our range of knitwear. We wanted to incorporate pullovers that would be comfortable for everyone to wear, particularly for those who find natural wool too irritating or have an allergy to it. It was important to us that any new material we chose should not only be practical, easy to wear and easy to care for but also of premium quality so it could sit rightfully alongside our first-class lambswool jumpers. After much investigating and liaising with our manufacturer, we sourced a new type of yarn called ‘Seawool’ that not only fits these specifications but has environmentally friendly properties too. You can find out more about what has made Seawool so popular with our customers and staff by reading our blog ‘Introducing Seawool’. Take a look at the Bosbury Crew Neck Jumper and the Colwall Zip Neck Jumper for our two newest Seawool styles that are super versatile and easy to wear.

Rooted in the countryside

Remaining proud of our origins, this season we’ve continued to use place names local to us in Herefordshire and Worcestershire for each of our designs. Browse through the collection and you may notice the name of your own home village or town amongst our shirts and jumpers!

What’s in the new collection

Our new AW23 collection incorporates eleven new checked shirts, all made from premium cotton. We’ve got a range of different check patterns this season, including the indispensable Tattersall country check designs of the SellackThruxtonHoarwithy and Hagley Shirts, and the more casual plaid check of our flannel shirts: the CheckleyPerton and Woolhope Shirts. The Tarrington and Yarkhill Shirts showcase multi-colour check designs for a more characterful option.

As with our previous collections, all our shirts feature quality tailoring, making them a pleasure to wear. They’ve been designed with branded button fastening down the front and button cuffs, with an additional button on the placket, and our A&M logo embroidered on the left chest. We’re proud of the way our shirts fit: the tail of the shirt stays tucked in and the fit across the shoulders and back not only offers excellent freedom of movement in the field but also a smart finish when working in the office. We’ve got two different fits in our range of shirts: regular and contemporary. For a more slimline and modern cut, try the Evesbatch and Hoarwithy Shirts which are available in our contemporary fit.

Our knitwear range has been expanded this season with our new Seawool jumpers: the Bosbury Crew Neck Jumper and the Colwall Zip Neck Jumper. In our premium lambswool, we’ve got the Eastnor V Neck in InkOlive and Raspberry and the Malvern Crew Neck, available in Ink and Olive. The Ledbury Crew Neck has been crafted in a traditional cable knit design with a gorgeous fleck, whilst our Netherton jumpers offer an ever-popular zip neck style and are available in InkOlive and Rustic.
